A peaceful secluded hideaway in the heart of Tuscany, where deer roam freely and the air smells of pine.
The adjacent barn, which originally housed the sheep and cows, has been converted into a beautiful self-contained apartment, making the perfect companion to the main house. Decorated in a more contemporary style, it is light and airy with an open-plan design, providing spacious accommodation for a further 4 guests.
Two large glass doors open onto a paved terrace for ‘alfresco’ dining with views of the surrounding woodlands, so typical of the rural Sienese countryside with its centuries’ old oak trees, at whose feet truffles and Porcini mushrooms make their home, amid olive groves and fields of wildflowers where whole families of deer graze undisturbed.
The Villa is positioned on the ridge of the Montestigliano estate, which extends over 2,500 hectares of agricultural land, in the Province of Siena.
The local area offers numerous activities, from gentle strolls through the woods, guided horse rides and bicycle tours, a wander through a local market or shopping outlet or a dip in a steaming thermal spring.
Numerous traditional restaurants located in and around Siena offer typical Tuscan dishes served alongside fantastic local wines, and of course let’s not forget the multitude of renowned wineries, where visitors can sample a vast array of fine wines from the areas of Chianti to the north and Val d’Orcia, Montalcino and Montepulciano, to the south, to be enjoyed alongside rich platters of local cheeses and cured meats.
This typical Sienese barn has been restored with great respect for and attention to its original details, preserving all the rustic features of rural Tuscan architecture, both on the inside and outside. The combination of the original characteristics with elegant and eclectic interiors give the annex a modern twist. The rooms have exposed beam ceilings, limewashed walls in soft colours and terracotta tiled floors, with touches of modern Italian design in the fireplaces, bathrooms and outdoor features.
Stone steps lead down from the main villa to the property’s private gardens and park, and immediately below lies the “infinity pool” with a travertine terrace that blends perfectly into its natural rocky environment. A wonderful spot for daytime relaxing or to enjoy a refreshing glass of prosecco as the sun sets, turning the sky into an array of fiery colours. Surrounded by nature, it is perfect for a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday commitments.
